The Greatest Showman

the-greatest-showman-posters-2017-tgs-barnum-01-hrA musical inspired by P.T. Barnum’s circus is the setting for what must be one of the most hopeful and aspirational films of the year. And what better time for it to be released, just before the new year when people are looking to be inspired.

The plot covers the rags to riches tale of Barnum and covers life lessons of following your dreams, working out who you are and the importance of inclusion. The songs and the showmanship on display are ridiculously catchy, exciting and joyful. I found myself glued to my chair for the credits because I wanted to hear them again!

Featuring a fantastic lead performance from Hugh Jackman and supported by Michelle Williams, Zac Efron (fantastic again singing and dancing rather than in bad comedy), Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson and Keala Settle this is a crowd pleasing musical with song after song that just land perfectly.

  1. Totally agree this is a joyous old fashioned musical. The song This Is Me is simply fantastic. Hugh Jackman is clearly having the time of his life with this one. My only complaint is the treatment of the Jenny Lind character. The real life equivalent was as close to a saint as you could get! A minor point in a great entertainment.
