Ferdinand

59838a8e813acFerdinand is a gentle bull with a good heart who does not want to fight in the arena. He escapes to grow up happy with a human family only to find himself back in the running to be in the bull ring when he is mistaken for a wild animal.

The original Ferdinand story was published in 1936 and is a simple story of a young bull who would rather smell the flowers than fight. Of course there are additions here to flesh it out into a feature length movie, but it keeps its gentle pace and good heart. Overall it is an enjoyable family film without any real stand out features to wow you, but something that would not be offensive to watch on a Sunday afternoon with the kids.

Kate McKinnon’s calming goat Lupe is certainly excellent comic relief that will generate a few laughs.
