Coco

coco_payoff_ig_jpeg_v7-1Miguel’s family have banned music following his great great grandmother’s heart being broken by a singer. Drawn to music Miguel steals the guitar of his idol Ernesto de la Cruz and is transported to the world of the dead where he has until dawn to escape.

Pixar’s latest is a story about family and remembrance set in the vibrant world of the Mexican day of the dead. The visuals are stunning, the music impressive and the final reel should bring a tear to the eye. But otherwise I struggled to find the same emotional connection or levels of humour as their other films that touch on this subject like Up and Inside Out. That isn’t to say it isn’t good, just not great like a number of their other films.
