Lisbeth Salander (Claire Foy) returns in her 3rd guise and 5th film in an action thriller taking in computer hacking, a long lost past and the righting of wrongs.

Salander was such a good character that the death of her author didn’t stop her publishers finding another novelist to write more stories. This then is an adaptation of the first David Lagercrantz Salander novel featuring a whole new cast and director taking on familiar characters.

Foy does well taking on the role performed so well by Noomi Rapace and Rooney Mara. She is cold, efficient and looks the part in the action sequences. The story follows the twists and turns of a job gone wrong where the control of the worlds missile systems are at stake.

All in all it succeeds as an action thriller with some twists. But given that it drops most of the complexity of the character and leans far more mainstream than the other films it could easily be labelled as a generic piece that uses franchise characters to get a leg up in its audience figures. But it is still an enjoyable ride.
