Smallfoot

smallfoot-poster-xlMigo (Channing Tatum) is a yeti who lives with his tribe at the top of a mountain above the clouds. The tribe lives by rules written in stone that are interpreted by the tribes elder known as the StoneKeeper (Common) and it is not considered appropriate to question him. When Migo comes across a mythical smallfoot though, something the stones say do not exist, he starts to question everything.

Smallfoot is a gem of an animated feature that I missed on general release, but thanks to kids club have been able to see at the cinema.

The keys to its success are as follows…

It has a really great message for a kids film. Firstly it asks them to challenge and question the world around them and pursue science and secondly it delves into the grey area of lying for the greater good. Themes that are much more weighty and interesting than your average kids film.

The songs are fun and help tell the story quickly. There are only 3 or 4 songs but they all add value to the characters stories and they are catchy.

Channing Tatum does a great job with his voice work and James Corden as the Smallfoot manages not to be as annoying as I normally find him!

All in all 96 minutes that both adults and children can enjoy.
