The legendary John Wick (Keanu Reeves) returns. Picking up immediately following John Wick: Chapter 2 a bounty of $14 million has been placed on the head of Wick following his transgression at the end of chapter 2. What follows is another master class in gun-fu.

The story in the John Wick series so far does a remarkable job of being both superfluous and very clever. It is laid out in an economical manner to propel us from one amazing action sequence to the next, but also continues to build the mythology of this criminal underworld of assassins. This film tells us more about ‘The High Table’ and introduces an ‘Adjudicator’ who acts as a judge for them. This time around there are also some very funny references to how the death of a dog got Wick into this mess in the first place and one very satisfying reference to another Keanu Reeves franchise that you may have seen in the trailer.

As always, what we are all here for are the action sequences and they are quite simply awesome. In a film that is almost non stop action in its 130 minute run time it still manages to switch up the sequences and have fun. Highlights include Wick’s old friend Sophia’s (Halle Berry) attack dogs assisting the pair, motorcycle and horse chases and a protracted fight scene with veterans of The Raid films Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman. Even the villain, played by Mark Dacascos has a few funny lines in amongst the fighting.

As with the other Wick films the action choreography is exemplary, making an art of reloading guns and keeping the action coherent and stylish. The series maintains its high bar and more than strongly suggests that John Wick will return.

One final word on the ridiculously impressive Keanu Reeves. At very nearly 55 years of age the physical and technical effort put into making these films look as realistic as they do is just phenomenal. John Wick May very well become more iconic than Neo, Johnny Utah and Jack Traven.
