The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf

A Witcher named Vesemir (Theo James) must find the source of a powerful new monster terrorising the kingdom and his journey will take him back to his early years of why he became a Witcher in the first place.

This anime feature film acts as a prequel to the hit Netflix series giving us an entirely new Witcher character to learn about whilst enriching our knowledge of the universe.

Vesemir is a cocky character at the height of his powers and is naïve to the views of his kind from the general population. Whilst a mage named Tetra (Lara Pulver) is stoking the fires of distrust about the Witcher kind in an effort to have the people rise up against them. The resulting story is full of twists and turns and most importantly for an anime, full of exciting and over the top battles where both Vesemir and Lara’s true powers are made clear.

Clearly the intended audience for this film is fairly narrow but by golly did I enjoy myself here. If you are a fan of The Witcher and of Japanese style animation then this film should hit a number of marks for you. The animation and battle sequences are a joy whilst the story will keep fantasy and Witcher fans very happy. If on the other hand neither of those things light your fire then this will not be for you.
