7 Days In Hell

A mockumentary telling the story of the 2001 Wimbledon Tennis final between Aaron Williams (Andy Samberg) and Charles Poole (Kit Harrington) that took seven days to complete.

After the insanity of watching Tour de Pharmacy I decided to check out this feature by the same creative team that was made two years before in 2015. It is from the same writer (Murray Miller), director (Jake Szymanski) and star (Andy Samberg), follows the same crazy structure of a sports documentary and has an array of cameos from real life sporting stars and comedians.

Some of the more bizarre storylines include an aside about a court room drama artist who liked to make his images look like Disney features and the fact that Samberg’s character Arron Williams is the adopted brother of the Williams sisters complete with cameo from Serena talking about her stepbrother. The comedy sketch nature of the feature taking it to weird and wonderful places and allowing actors like Michael Sheen to deliver characters like Caspian Wint. A homosexual, chain smoking television interviewer who has a penchant for asking sportsman to show their abs.

The outcome is less successful than its follow up but at 43 minutes long it does not outstay its welcome.
