The Wild Robot

Set in a future where global warming has impacted sea levels an intelligent helper robot finds itself shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and has to adapt to live with the wildlife there.

ROZZUM Unit 7134, later nicknamed Roz (Lupita Nyong’o) initially causes chaos amongst the animals resulting in them believing her to be a monster. But before Roz can signal to its manufacturers to recall it she accidentally crushes a goose nest, killing the mother and breaking all but one egg. When that singular egg hatches Roz finds herself with a task that as a helper robot she must complete. Look after the gosling.

With the help of a lone fox named Fink (Pedro Pascal) she sets out to raise Brightbill (Kit Connor).

The Wild Robot consists of the key ingredients for a perfect family film. It asks the classic science fiction question of “what makes us human?” as Roz slowly changes its programming to become more than the sum of its parts. Becoming a mother before our eyes. It provides a storyline filled with humour that gives something to all ages. Features a strong emotional message of love, community and friendship. Features superb animation and most of all will make expectant or new parents incredibly emotional.

A joy to watch and highly recommended.
