Run

Diane Sherman (Sarah Paulson) has looked after her daughter since her traumatic premature birth. Chloe Sherman (Kiera Allen) whilst afflicted with a heart condition, severe asthma and paralysis of the legs is a determined teenager applying for college having been home schooled by her mother her entire life. But just as she is excited by the opportunity of leaving home for college she starts to wonder if her mother may be blocking her chances.

Run is a competent, predictable thriller. Diane’s motives and actions are made pretty clear from the start and there are some tense moments as wheel chair bound Chloe tries to negotiate an escape. Nothing extraordinary happens but what does is efficient and lean in its storytelling. Running at a swift 90 minutes and featuring two solid lead performances from Paulson and Allen it is perfectly fine entertainment. But equally there is nothing within it that sets it above any other thriller of this nature.
