A prolific serial killer may have finally met their match as The Lady (Willa Fitzgerald) and The Demon (Kyle Gallner) fight for their own survival after a date/trap does not go to plan.
If there is some justice in the world, something seemingly missing from the world of Strange Darling, this movie will find its place as a cult classic in the horror/slasher movie fandom. A six part story, which is of course told out of sequence, that will not only keep you guessing what happens next, but also what happened before, Strange Darling takes maximum pleasure in using our preconceived ideas of a slasher movie and inverting them. Even opening with a suggestion that what follows is based on a true story for added confusion (it is not!).
Written and directed by JT Moller and shot on 35mm film the movie opens with our ‘final girl’ running for her life in the countryside by a man possessed driving a classic car. Everything about it screams classic slasher movie. Willa Fitzgerald excels as our protagonist and Kyle Gallner just about hangs on to her coat tails as she roars through their scenes together.
